The Importance of Spot-Checking Your Website With Regularity

One of the best reasons for having a website for your business is the fact that potential clients can access information about your product or service twenty four hours a day. The night owl might peruse your website at four in the morning, while the early bird might look for your store hours at six in the morning before planning their day. To ensure that your website is in tip-top shape to receive these potential clients to turn them into sales, look over your site with these four components in mind.

Correct Operating Hours: Some brick and mortar stores have reduced working hours during the slower summer months. Make sure that if this is the case for your business that your website properly reflects these new hours of operation, and what date normal working hours will resume. There is nothing more frustrating than walking up to a location and finding it closed and a sign on the door saying “closed for the summer.” Save potential clients the hassle of driving over, and they will be grateful for it.Correct Contact Information: This seems like a no-brainer, but I cannot tell you how many times I have found errors in our client’s contact information. It might be that one number is incorrect in the phone number, or one letter is switched around on their email address. Double check just to be sure. The last thing you want is for a potential client to think you are out of business when an email bounces back or the phone line is disconnected.Updated Sales/Coupons: Saving clients a bit of money on your services or goods is always a thoughtful gesture—but make sure that once this thoughtful gesture has expired, that it is removed from your website. Keeping outdated material such as this is not only annoying to your potential clients, but it shows that your business is not actively updating your website. If you are not up to date and all over your own materials, how can a new client trust you to provide them with quality service as well? Correct Links/Working Navigation: As you age, so does your website. Sometimes links become broken, and sometimes your website navigation, such as drop down menus and tabs, stop working. Make sure to go through your website about once a month and click on every button and tab, as well as any links that go outside of your website to ensure that they are all functioning properly. A potential client will expect your website to function properly, and will notice when it is not. You don’t want that type of negative attention to be aimed at your business. Keeping a tidy house is a source of comfort for your client, so make sure that your website “house” stays this way.
