Memory stick

The proprietary Sony Memory Stick was first introduced by Sony in October 1998 and is a flash memory card used with Sony digital cameras and other Sony products. Sony released several models of the Memory Stick including the Memory Stick Pro, Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick PRO Duo, Memory Stick Micro (M2), and Memory Stick PRO-HG that ranged in sizes of 128MB to 32GB. Today, Sony digital cameras are now using SD and SDHC memory cards and with no new cards being released since 2010 will likely be discontinued in the future. In the picture to the right, is an example of a 16GB Sony Memory Stick PRO Duo.

The term "memory stick" is also used to describe RAM, USB jump drive (flash drive), and other compact flash.
